Diarist.

Terms of Service.

Last updated: 2 August 2026

Diarist is a free, private, invite-only shared diary for family and friends. By using it, you agree to these terms. We've kept them short and honest.

01 Using Diarist

Diarist lets you make plans, invite people, and let everyone answer with a tap. You need to be at least 13 years old, and old enough where you live to agree to terms like these. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your sign-in safe.

02 What it costs

Diarist is free for everyone. There are no ads and no trackers. If we ever add optional paid features, we'll make it clear before you pay for anything, and nothing you already rely on will be taken away.

03 Your content is yours

The plans, comments, and photos you add stay yours. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to store your content and show it to the people you invite, so the app works. We don't publish it, sell it, or use it to train anything.

04 Being a good guest

Diarist is a place for real plans with people you know. Please don't use it to harass anyone, post unlawful or hateful content, upload things you don't have the right to share, or try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Press and hold any note, reply or photo that isn't yours and you can report it or block the person who posted it. Blocking hides everything they write from you straight away. Reporting sends it to us, and we act on reports within 24 hours: removing the content, and removing the person from Diarist where that's warranted. If something needs attention the in-app menu doesn't reach, such as a display name or the wording of a plan, email support@diarist-app.com.

05 Leaving

You can delete your account any time from the Profile tab; it removes your account and the data we hold about you, immediately. You can also just stop using Diarist. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.

06 No guarantees, and our limits

We work hard to keep Diarist running, but it's provided "as is", without warranties, and we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Diarist isn't liable for indirect or incidental losses arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have that can't be waived under the law where you live.

07 Changes

We may update these terms as Diarist grows. If we make a material change, we'll update the date above and, where it matters, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Diarist means you accept the current terms.

08 Contact & governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Questions? Email support@diarist-app.com and a human will reply.
