Diarist.

Privacy Policy.

Last updated: 2 August 2026

Diarist is a private space for families and friends to plan things together. We collect the minimum needed to make that work, and nothing else.

What we collect

Account: your email address and the name you sign in with, via Sign in with Apple. Content you create: plans, RSVPs, and comments, visible only to the people you invite. Push tokens: so invitations and replies can reach your device.

What we don't do

No advertising, no data brokers, no selling your personal data. Diarist never asks for your address book and cannot read your contacts. Nothing you write is public.

Where it lives

Data is stored with Supabase, hosted in the EU, and protected by row-level security: each family's data is only readable by its members.

Reporting. When you report a note, reply or photo, an alert is emailed to our own moderation address through Resend, Inc. It carries the reason you chose, an excerpt of the reported content, and the display names and account IDs of the person who posted it and of you, so that we can find it and act within 24 hours (see the Terms). It goes to us and to nobody else.

Product analytics

We count how Diarist is used, so we know what to make better: which parts of the app are opened, and that events, RSVPs and notes happened. We never send your name, your email, the titles of your events, or the words you write; the length of a note is recorded only as “short”, “medium”, or “long”. You are identified only by the same random account ID your Diarist account already uses, and nothing about analytics is stored on your phone.

Our analytics processor is Mixpanel, Inc. Analytics data is stored in Mixpanel's European Union region, and your IP address is never sent. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding whether the app works well (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). You can turn this off at any time: switch off Help improve Diarist in the app's Profile tab, and we stop immediately (GDPR Art. 21). Analytics identifiers are kept for 25 months, then deleted; if you delete your account, your analytics data is deleted too (Art. 17). Any transfer of personal data to Mixpanel is made under the appropriate safeguards recorded in our sub-processor register.

Your rights

In the app's Profile tab you can download all your data (GDPR Art. 15) or delete your account and everything with it (GDPR Art. 17), instantly and without asking us.
